There are different styles of smoking cessation sessions. I now use a psychological approach that gives you control by helping you to understand you're thinking, emotions and behaviour around smoking. So you can grow out of smoking and addictions for good.

Experience shows that, unless there is a high level of unconscious anxiety, after two weeks no effort is required. It is the aim of the session to get you through those first difficult two weeks of being a non-smoker, even if it takes more than one session.

Thinking Addiction


Many, many people, including drug companies, the NHS and even hypnotherapists try and treat the addiction but smoking isn't addictive and this will be shown to you during you're hypnotherapy session.

Almost all of the (readily available) smoking cessation methods are designed to block/take away/hide/replace/control the nicotine 'addiction'. These techniques just reinforce the smoker's thinking that smoking is an addiction and is therefore very difficult to give up.

Nicotine: High and Low Psychoactive Effect


Research suggests: Nicotine is unique in comparison to other drugs as it has the dimension to stimulate with low usage and as the dosages get higher it increases to a sedative or even pain killer.

When you smoke a cigarette nicotine enters the blood from your lungs and arrives to your brain within seven seconds and immediately stimulates the release of many chemical messengers.

You're nervous system goes into what is known as the 'fight or flight response'. Your liver releases glucose's and gives you're body a quick energy boost, which is pure adrenaline and causes stimulation. ANXIETY and Pain is reduced as nicotine increases and extends positive effects of dopamine which tells your brain you have been rewarded so you feel relaxed.

Cigarettes throw you're whole system out of balance so you're thinking becomes distorted where you need to smoke to CONTROL the ups with the downs. You're thrown into a false sense of security.

When you TRY and give up smoking, the one thing that helps you to control your stress levels... you start to feel angry, irritable or bad tempered which then leads to you having a conflicting discussion in your head whether to smoke again and if you don’t smoke you continue to experience anger, moods or even depression.

4I've tried Hypnotherapy before and it didn't work, would this one session work and if so why?
There could be one or two reasons why you did not stop smoking before - one could have been it wasn't the right time for you to stop. Another is you didn't learn about the false ideas around smoking and how they affect your behaviour. You may not have been comfortable with the therapist. Did the therapist drill into you how bad smoking is (if so it wouldn't help you much).

There are many people that I have helped give up smoking that previously tried hypnotherapy - as I'm sure you will find this approach totally different and unique.
